Actually, the crazy p2p connections actually reinforce their algorithm story. If their p2p algorithms have flaked out, it could cause all sorts of trouble. OTOH, I don't think they'd run logins over p2p....

This is true, Dean, I just happened to need Skype yesterday to send a
text message. I didn't see anyting wrong until I googled the news.

Not only was it not working, but it kept on establishing p2p
connections at the rate of about 2 per second. Watching the software
fw, it was very suspicious, so I shut that down and went to a MacBook
where I couldn't log in at all. I would not be surprised to learn that
there's more to this than the "algorithm" story given by Skype Damage
Control.
