Yes, we can provide you termination to India and Pakistan. I am not sure what do you mean by a local provider. We are in southern California. Please contact me off the list and we can setup some testing for you to tryout our call quality.

Re: [asterisk-biz] Dedicated Server

Yeah, Linux kernel 2.6 does this. I'm not the smartest Linux guy, but there
are ways to get zaptel (real and virtual) to work in Xen and OpenVZ. I
believe it's easier in OpenVZ.

Re: [asterisk-biz] Asterisk Spam (was: Re: Supply Asterisk Cards& IPPBX)

I've done business with them. They made a really crappy IP Phone, but I
currently use their ATAs. Cheap and seem to work pretty good. I'm using
the.... well, I don't remember right now, but it's their newish IAX single
port ATA. It also does SIP and T.38, though I haven't tested that.

Re: [asterisk-biz] IAX ATAs

1) Expensive for what it is.
2) No good admin interface.
3) Impossible to provision remotely.
4) Echo
5) No DNS for servers.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Re: [asterisk-biz] Publishing US Phone Numbers for Directories

It's quite difficult. You can really only do it with properly setup CLECs.
You can get into the national databases, but the RBOC database is the golden
ticket.

Re: [asterisk-biz] (((Commercial and Business Not So)))

Seeing more of that would be nice.  However, I don't think we'll see it because IP communications are global in nature, so people are less inclined to help others that can easily compete directly with them.

Isn't this discussion group supposed to be Commercial and Business oriented???  All I ever read about here are discussions about who's more technically literate and who can do a better job than Switchvox or this GUI is better than that one etc.  Does anybody want to discuss business issues like:

1. Go to market strategies
2. Sales and Marketing
3. Competative positioning against mainstream offerings like Cisco, Shoretel, Avaya et al.
4. Best practice service models
5. Vertical market success stories
6. Profitability strategies in up market SMB's
7. Profitable models for sub 50 seat call centers
8. Vertical apps that interoperate with Asterisk
9. Demand generation
10. Market creation

Who screwed who out of $100.00 and what nick nack is better would be better somewhere else.  Or am I asking for too much here???  Someone please help me be right or wrong on this.

Several in my circle of voip who use these providers for direct inward dialing. We like them all for differnt reasons.
Voxbone around since 2002:
buy with unlimited minutes
also buy the number of channels wanted, quite convenient
prices tend to be more expensive
not as large a footprint and not the choice of more than one provider as the next one

Didx since sometime in 2005, a service from a company super technologys (inc in 1999):
choose the quality, prices and features acceptable to me, available from usually more than one vendor from any area
largest footprint
most wellknown
We have no complaints about either one. Theirs also some others if you want fewer numbers like did worldwide, tollfreeforwarding, virtualphoneline, phone2net (channels too), and then, there's the private peering for did: intelepeer, xconnect, stealth and such. happy holidays all.

[asterisk-biz] OpenVox D410E (PCI-e) Version is Now released!

Dear All,

With OpenVox continuously innovation, we are now proud to announce that D410E is released!

D410E supports E1, T1 and J1 environments. It is selectable on a per-card or per-port basis. This feature enables signaling translation between E1 and T1 equipments and allows T1 channel banks to connect with E1 circuits in a cost effective way.

With the improved I/O speed, the card reduces CPU usage and increased card density per server. D410E is fully compatible with Asterisk applications. The open source driver supports an API interface for custom application development.

D410E supports industry standard telephony and data protocols, including Primary Rate ISDN (both N. American and Standard Euro) protocol families for voice, PPP, Cisco, HDLC, and Frame Relay data modes. Both line-side and trunk-side interfaces are supported.

Other Features includes:
Support PCI Express 1.0.
High Performance PCI BusMaster with up to 2Kbytes FIFO
Easy to install: Use wct4xxp driver included in original Zaptel without any patch

For More Information, please visit www.openvox.com.cn .

Thanks to all who participated in the call. A lot of interesting side

think we can all agree that we wish the entire asterisk community a

Hey Folks..I know this is a simple question, so I apologize.

I'm trying to spec out how many concurrent calls we can do w/Asterisk
on a Meg of bandwidth w/SIP and G.729.  My developer is tell me G729
will use 32 Kbps.   Could that be correct? The codec only takes 8k.
 Is there that much overhead.

The bandwidth calculator is your friend.  Just play with the packet size
and you can get down the overhead to a much lower level than what your
developer says.

Andres

Thanks for your patience with this!!
