[asterisk-biz] Live Answering Service with Direct SIP Connections and Light Accounts starting at $14.95/mo

Oh brother, I just sent this to the users list by accident.. Ouch.. I
will be hearing that for a while. Gmail drops down both the users list
and the biz list when I type Asterisk and I clicked the wrong one..
Anyhow, on to my message that was intended for this list.

A while back I spent days searching for an answering service that
would allow us to forward our calls via SIP or IAX but to my surprise
found nothing.

I have been a member of the Asterisk community for a few years and had
Asterisk users in mind as we created our offering.

I am now proud to announce the launch of Prestige Messaging:
http://www.PrestigeMessaging.com

We are a US based answering service with 100% of our operators located
within the US.

In the near future there will be many features that make us different
from the traditional answering service, for now the two most exciting
are outlined below.

-Forward your calls to us using SIP or a toll-free number
-Light use plans for the small business or consultant that start at just $14.95

Please have a look and if you have any questions please submit the
contact form on our website or call us at (888) 229-1185.

We do not monitor this list for questions regarding our service and
want to be sure to respond in a timely manner. This is basically my
personal list email address I use and I do not check it regularly.

Thanks all and hope that we can be of service to the Asterisk
community and take a few more calls off the PSTN :-)

Re: [asterisk-biz] Business (IN) number in Austria and in Switzerland

I often wonder why governments have regulations as such these days. If a
customer didn't depend on it, I'd order hundreds of them just to make a
statement to that silly government.

Is this going to be provided over a physical line in Austria? If not, then
it is against the Austrian regulations to supply and therefore you are
likely to find it difficult to locate one.

I second that. I have several, they are great for FXS. For FXO, they
lack caller id.

We're using the Rhino CB24-FXS. It's been working great. At about $1500
your looking at about $62.50 per port.

Re: [asterisk-biz] FXS gateway

You can check ebay for an Adtran TSU 600. I got a very gently used one
for $250 one time, rock solid.

I also really like the Quintum Tenor AX. Might be out of your price
range though.

Thanks,

Re: [asterisk-biz] Business (IN) number in Austria and in Switzerland

I imagine the IN number would be pointing to an Austrian DID and then would be routed through VoIP to us. Would this be considered illegal?
We could also attempt to provide an Austrian VAT number and address if needed. For the Swiss number it could work in a similar way.

Is this going to be provided over a physical line in Austria? If not, then it is against the Austrian regulations to supply and therefore you are likely to find it difficult to locate one. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Josep Casals" <josep@masvoz.es> To: <asterisk-biz@lists.digium.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 31, 2007 7:26 PM Subject: [asterisk-biz] Business (IN) number in Austria and in Switzerland

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the Linksys SPA-942/962 phones. Many of our clients like them for their small desk footprint, almost Cisco-like handset weight and clear, backlit display. Unfortunately the cheaper end of the Snom/Aastra/Polycom range don't have any backlighting at all - it's only on the substantially more expensive models you seem to get backlights.

Certainly here in the UK, a Linksys SPA-942 is quite a bit cheaper than an Aastra 55i (first one with backlight).

We've also done quite a few deployments in the past with the Elmeg ip290 (basically an Snom 190 clone). These are good phones - sound quality is almost on par with the Linksys, but they do lack that crucial backlight and the buttons feel slightly "spongy" if you're used to the Cisco feel.

You need to post where you're located so we can help you with that. In the UK, you might want to try either VoipOn ( www.voipon.co.uk) or MyPhoneCall ( www.myphonecall.co.uk) . Obviously if you're anywhere else they aren't going to be much help - especially with the weakness of the dollar at present.

Chris

It seems that its a problem with registering on your Asterisk. If PAP2
failed to register it doesn't provide dial tone.
You may ignore it setting "Make Call Without Reg" to "yes" for Line1 &
Line2. This will give you dial tone no matter what
and users will be able to make call.
Also you should check why Asterisk doesn't process registration properly
from time to time.

Re: [asterisk-biz] Profitable Wholesale Carriers?

I am lookink for Jamaica termination via SIP to CWJ mobile,Digicel and
proper. Please also send me your ASR and your ACD. Must be willing to offer
test to the listed carriers. Not looking to run any traffic for test.I want
to mostly test to see if carriers cover all of the regions in Jamaica.

Re: [asterisk-biz] Profitable Wholesale Carriers?

Some probably resell other carrier's services. I honestly have
wondered this myself. As for us (chilitech.net) we have been
involved in the Internet business since 2001. We have a large group
of broadband and dial-up customers as well as web hosting customers,
so the VoIP is only part of our business and is profitable.

Chris

Re: [asterisk-biz] Lost DialTone Problem With Linksys Pap2

Without more information it is hard to say, but it would sound like
your network connect is going down.... or if it's not... something
between you and the other users is going down, rendering the
connection useless.

There is a re-register setting in the PAP2 that you could set. What
is your re-register set to at the moment?

Re: [asterisk-biz] Lost DialTone Problem With Linksys Pap2

With the problem happening to multiple devices in different locations,
it sounds like the problem is on the customer end and either a network
or server problem.

What do the asterisk and device logs say at the time of the outage?

[asterisk-biz] Profitable Wholesale Carriers?

I see a lot of wholesale and business SIP origination and termination carriers on the voip-info web site at:

http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/VOIP+Service+Providers+Business+North+America

The list seems to be growing daily. Do people actually make money doing this? I would have thought that the profit margins on carrying minutes would have been measured in fractions of a cent. I’m a little curious how people cut a profit unless they are passing millions of minutes per month. If they are, I wonder how they get business when there are so many out there doing it.

Do these companies just resell other people’s networks, like Level 3? Do they build their own term/orig POP’s in datacenters around the world and use the public Internet to route calls, or do they build private networks? Both must be expensive. Once again, I’m curious how they can cut a profit???

Doug.

*All* providers of premium rate services must register with ICSTIS in the
UK. Depending on the service there maybe additional permissions required on
top before service can be started.

We (www.magrathea-telecom.co.uk) can provide these numbers.

A late reply, but I have been away for a week. I know of a few
companies who can help with the UK premium rate number but if you are
looking to operate in the UK there are a family of rules that you
must be aware of, including some that mean you may need to register
your service with the relevant regulators.

[asterisk-biz] Next Friday at 12:30 PM EDT: Asterisk Users Conference TDM inside and outside the box

Hi,

I am going to be on the road for the next few days and with the
variable delay on the mailing list, I am posting this now, 4 days
before the conference. If you haven't yet listened or participated,
please consider doing it. We have a great kernel of people at all
levels of expertise and ideas and questions can be kicked around
immediately (well, there's a few milliseconds lag).

This Friday we'll be talking about TDM solutions including ATA that do
IAX and SIP without opening the box and installing a card. Your
experience in this area would be appreciated. If you sell these
solutions come over and "pimp" them.

You can find us here:

http://AsteriskUsersConference.org

At this site there are three main conference pages, how to listen or
participate, a player page for the archived recordings and a page with
the extension for a SIP connection to the conference bridge. There are
also two links to other pages, a related blog and AsteriskTV which
will be getting more and better content and more formats due to the
issue of Flash not being compatible with 64-bit systems. I'm working
on this now and hope to have that done by mid September. If anyone
knows how to convert mp3 to oog on a FreeBSD system, let me know. The
video issues are going to be more complicated so if you have
suggestions, please post them or email them to me.

Thanks to the numerous people who have been supportive of these
efforts including Mark Spencer and the guys at Digium.

suppliers who obviously aren't going to be cost effective don't clutter

[asterisk-biz] Jay Kordic - Level (3) Termination Post

Hi Jay,

Agree with your opinion you believe its Level (3) termination.

Disagree that it is Level (3) termination.

Agree that the IP’s are Level (3), but there’s a difference between Public Internet IP addresses and RTP trace IP addresses.

When you post those kinds of rates on the Level (3) “VT” Network it really taints the credibility of anything else you post anywhere.

As you know, TSG is one of Level (3)’s 1st voice customers since 2003. We pay our bill every month on time and are enjoying our 5th USA Termination (VT) rate reduction with Level (3) based on our volumes and excellent credit history.

We are realists and don’t profess to be anything that we are not but we “do” have 14 ingress points into the Level (3) Voice network  based on our volumes, where the typical Level (3) client has 1-2 ingress points.

Now as for your carrier telling you any different my only comment is that these are the types of companies that taint the industry and deliver something other than what is promised.

All this is just my humble opinion based on our long term relationship with Level (3) and the community at large.

All- this is not a knock on Jay Kordic– its TSG’s opinion that he’s a hard working and ethical individual and good consultant to do business with.  I just can’t help myself in correcting misleading products by carriers out there.  – Again all this is just my humble opinion.

Please confirm receipt and let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Los Angles CA to be picked up there by one of my techs so he can bring them
with him to Fiji. I am located in Lewisville TX. Let me also add I am
looking for some Wip 330's also.

Jeff

Where are you located?

A suggestion for the list in general: please post where you're located so
suppliers who obviously aren't going to be cost effective don't clutter
either your mailbox or the list with unwanted quotes. :-)

Regards,

Chris
